WELCOME MESSAGE

The Department of History, Representation, and Restoration of Architecture (Dipartimento di Storia, Disegno e Restauro dell'Architettura - DSDRA) at Sapienza University of Rome invites scholars interested in the debate on the FORTIFICATIONS OF THE MEDITERRANEAN to participate in the FORTMED 2026 Conference by presenting their contribution in the form of either a Full Paper or a Short Paper.

All fully accepted contributions will be published as Conference Proceedings in a series with ISBN/ISSN code and arranged to be accessible also via web. To be included in the Proceedings, registration and payment of the registration fee is required for at least one author for each contribution. Papers submitted after the deadline will NOT be published in the Conference Proceedings.

The official language of the Conference is English, although Italian and Spanish may be used, both for written texts and oral presentations. The conference will NOT provide simultaneous translation. To make your presentation more comprehensible, we strongly recommend using English on your slides. For each topic area, the best oral presentation will be awarded the ‘best paper’ prize.
